Candelaria is home to the Virgin of Candelaria, patron of the Canary Islands General, which is also known as Villa Mariana de Candelaria. It is considered the sacred place of pilgrimage par excellence archipiélago.En August thousands of pilgrims from all the Canary Islands arrive at Villa Mariana to celebrate the feast of the patron saint in the so-called Walk to Candelaria.
